Garage door remotes have to be the handiest devices ever! In fact, they are the ‘keys’ that most of us use to enter and leave our homes. They cause very few problems and, when they do, they can be replaced or repaired at very little expense.

But, exactly what should you do when garage door remotes fail to perform their duty? Where do you look if you need a replacement? Here are some answers:

As strange as it may seem, many of us forget that the only thing that powers our garage door remotes are batteries. So, if a remote stops working suddenly, the obvious thing to do is first check the batteries.

If a wall-mounted button works but the garage door remote does not, you may need to reprogram the remote. The best way to do this is to read the instructions in the owner’s manual. If you don’t have a manual, you should find one on the manufacturer’s website.
