- Regular Washing: It is imperative to keep a wooden garage door clean. If foreign objects and dirt aren’t removed, they can cause damage. Regular washing with soap and water will increase the lifespan of the door and also help to get rid of insects.
- Regular Staining or Painting: Keep the door in peak condition by staining or painting it regularly. This provides a protective seal and prevents foreign elements from weakening the wood. Scrape, clean, prime and stain or repaint the door whenever you see flaking, peeling or bubbling. It goes without saying that you should use eco-friendly products.
- Replace Damaged Panels: If the door is made of panels and termites or rot have set in, or if you notice weakness in a particular section, have the damaged panel removed and replaced.
