- Check that the garage door opener is plugged in and the circuit breaker is connected and functioning.
- Check the batteries in your garage door remote or keypad. If the batteries are new, try resetting them to sync with the garage door opener.
- Make sure the sensors aren’t obstructed in any way.
- If the garage door won’t open or close all the way, or reverses when it gets to a certain point, you probably need to adjust the limit switch for the height of your garage door area.
- If it still is not opening, pull the emergency release cord to detach it from the system. Then try to open the garage door manually.
- See if the spring is broken. If so, it will be hard or impossible to open the garage door manually.
- If everything seems fine but the garage door is still not opening, it could be something more serious. Call in a professional and have them check it over.
- Get quotes on the garage door parts that might need repairs or on garage door replacement if the door is old or broken beyond simple repair.
- It is best to have a professional garage door company perform garage door installation or repairs and make sure everything is working properly again
